This is a wonderful, deep song. I'm giving it an 8.

What a great song.  One of my favourites off of War. It's a 9 from me.

8.  One of Edges best strummers.  The strings and lyrics make it a great addition to War.

Not really a favourite of mine.  It's a bit thin, musically, and at that point in their careers Bono was not very good at love songs, as this one shows.  But I'll give it a solid 6.

Really a 10! Just without a doubt. Heartfelt and great. That violin is what I love the most about the music. Just not distracting and very moving.

Sure, I have heard that it's also a religious song as it references Isaiah 40: "They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” but I still don't think there's anything strikingly original or interesting about the lyric, and it's not a great song for me.

It's a beautiful song, though Bono sounds a bit strained and the rough production doesn't quite fit. I would love to hear them finally give this a live treatment.

When I read about that lyric the song got me, and I became official fan, I think.

First thinking it was just a love song. Then it appeared a song written for Adam. Was a great eye-opener about what kind of band U2 is. Thinking about that, I maybe understand why they haven't played it live (yet). It's just too personal for the band.

This love will last.. this love wil last forever

I love it. Maybe it's not fully realized. Maybe Bono is a bit croaky. Love the lyrics. Love that they are for Adam. Love the haunting background vocals. Not quite a classic, but strong enough for an 8 which means I'd love to hear it live and it's essential.
I saw Gloria live. Even if I never see the band live again, at least I saw Gloria live. :)

Boss.

Electric Co. and Even Better than the Real thing are just "ok", and this song is "boss"?   You sure you've heard the songs in question?

Some songs from War have dated rather badly, but this isn't one of them. I rate it a solid 8.

Though I'm sure it has that interpretation, you do know Bono is on record as saying it was written to and about Adam?
