U2 LIVE FROM IRVING PLAZA NEW YORK REMASTERED
« on: April 17, 2020, 01:14:54 AM »
I just stumbled across this by sheer accident. (Believe it or not, I was watching a clip from "The Music Man." :D ) Apparently it was posted just a few hours ago? And it was in a club? Really gives it a different feel.

It's new to me, at any rate. Hopefully new to some of you, too. (Pun not intended. :) )

U2 sent an email about 6 hours ago announcing that they're posting various footage for the duration of this rona dance. I should point out that Pink Floyd's doing the same thing; I would bet that many other bands will soon join in with their own concert footage.

That Irving Plaza show was fun. Looking forward to seeing it again.

Yeah, I read somewhere that a whole bunch of musicians are planning to do that. I'm not sure this is part of that effort though. Could be, I suppose.

The other stuff you mention is artists agreeing to put stuff up on youtube.

Would be nice if u2 did same.

Seems their offering is for people who pay a sub to their site?

Apparently Last of the Rockstars is an anonymous official U2 Youtube account. So they do give us stuff, quietly.

Well, you've both managed to thoroughly baffle me. (Admittedly, not hard to do. :) ) I don't know how either paid content or Last of the Rockstars got into it. What I posted was free on YouTube, and was from The U2 Blue Room. I have no idea what his/her/their relationship is to U2, but the credits say the songs are licensed to YouTube. I'm guessing that means it's legit?

Anyway, I'll link to it again, since there seems to be some confusion surrounding my first try. What's fascinating to me is how the setting gives a whole different vibe to the performance.

Hope this works right:

Speaking of Last of the Rockstars, there's a somewhat weird video with a VERY weird but awesome version of the Fly on his/her/their channel. Also free. :D

Pretty old, though, y'all probably know all about this one already. (?)

I don't think I've ever seen or heard this one before. But I think it's very cool. I wish they'd put out more remixes like this rather than so many variations of EDM reworkings.

Sorry, Twilight, was just responding to the old Scouser bitching about other artists putting up material for free and wishing U2 would.

I was just offering the rebuttal that U2 apparently are quietly providing free goodies via the Last of the Rockstars Youtube channel, which doesn't announce itself as official but appears to be.

I've never seen that Fly, will add it to my Reading List. Oh, to have a bit of privacy to watch whatever I want.

I’ve always thought that Last of the Rock Stars was semi-official. Maybe someone involved in video production for the band, and has their blessing to post these clips.
