I don't know if all of these would be considered the objective "best" but they're my favorites of the last two decades. I limited it to one album per artist, otherwise Radiohead and a few others would dominate the list.

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
Bjork - Vespertine
Beck - Sea Change
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound
Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Manic Street Preachers - Send Away the Tigers
The National - High Violet
Alvvays - Antisocialites
R.E.M. - Reveal
Coldplay - Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
British Sea Power - Open Season
Keane - Under the Iron Sea
Asobi Seksu - Citrus
The Boxer Rebellion - Promises
The Killers - Sam's Town
Bruce Springsteen - The Rising
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
New Order - Music Complete
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
The Joy Formidable - The Big Roar
My Morning Jacket - Z
Nada Surf - The Weight Is a Gift
Rush - Vapor Trails
Japanese Breakfast - Psychopomp
Starflyer 59 - Leave Here a Stranger
Trampled by Turtles - Life Is Good on the Open Road
The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
The Shins - Wincing the Night Away

ok here we go...

1. Lateralus - Tool   (2001)
2. 100 Broken Windows - Idlewild  (2001 here in the States)
3. Aerial - Kate Bush   (2005)
4. Taiga - Zola Jesus   (2014)
5. year zero - NIN   (2007)
6. Clockwork Angels - Rush   (2012)
7. Dark Passion Play - Nightwish   (2007)
8. No Line On the Horizon - U2   (2009)
9. Crack The Skye - Mastodon   (2009)
10. Olympia - Austra   (2012)
11. Warnings/Promises - Idlewild   (2005)
12. Norma - Mon Laferte   (2018)
13. Watershed - Opeth   (2009)
14. With Oden On Our Side - Amon Amarth   (2006)
15. Amor Celeste Imperial - Amanitas   (2017)
16. Higher Truth - Chris Cornell   (2016)
17. Transnational - VNV Nation   (2015)
18. Futures - Jimmy Eat World   (2004)
19. Absolution - Muse   (2004)
20. Seal IV - Seal   (2003)

...well, there you have today's version, kinda. Mastodon and Nightwish should each have 2 more albums on there, and Opeth should have 3, but I wanted to try to keep it down to one album per artist. Hell, Idlewild should have one more on there, and they're the only artist/band that actually got 2. Killed me to leave SOI off of this, but leaving Alice in Chains' Black Gives Way To Blue, Lorde's Pure Heroine, Gojira's Magma, and Savages' Silence Yourself off hurt even more. As for the 20 that are on my list, those first 3 are the top 3 in that order. 4 through 9 are the 6 albums that should be there, although maybe not in those exact spots - I put this together really fast. The rest, well...you could put them in any order, really.

The number of times NLOTH is mentioned by you guys is very telling that this is indeed a U2 forum.  ;D

Side 4 is pretty good.  :P Overall I like it better than The Division Bell but there are songs from The Division Bell I like more than any song on The Endless River.

I realised at some point that any list I'd make of the last ten years in particular, would probably amount to little more than 'here's 15 or so albums I can think of, if I really try, that I really liked, that happened to be released in the last ten years'.  In no way would it count as a best-of distillation from some larger pool of contenders.

I have to cheat slightly, as my memory for detail is pretty woeful. So suffice to say. Since 2000, i have liked.....

All the Radiohead Albums released
All The Nick Cave Albums released
All the Robert Plant Albums released

I have gone on record as saying that pretty much 99.9% if the music i love, was released prior to 2000
