SOE Pet Peeves
« on: November 30, 2017, 01:46:44 PM »
I love the album.  But it's not a good gym-workout at all.  (But neither is Automatic for the People by R.E.M. ).

SOE is best listened to with a bottle of wine on the porch of a beach house during the off season.

If you are lifting weights go with Achtung Baby or Pop.

If hiking of biking in nature Joshua Tree all the way.

Agreed. Its a moody, (ambient in places) album that needs its own, unique way of listening (compared to other U2 albums).

During the build up - it was described as a series of personal letters from Bono regarding life, his mortality, love and his children.

NAIL ON THE HEAD THERE.

Luckily, not much USA bashing either.

And boy can it get DARK - 13 (There Is A Light)!!!
What are we going to do now it's all been said.
No new ideas in the house and every book has been read.

I use live u2 to work out to. ATYCLB may not be their best album but Elevation is a hell of a tour.

I found SOI to be a great gym album. And I've seen it in a few cooking videos too

There are no animal references: No dogs, cats, chirping birds, wild horses, flies, blackbirds, locusts, cockatoos

I also agree with this. Its stunning song, but way to short.

I'm peeved that there is no pet referencing on this album.

That's literally a pet peeve!
The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.
