Rejoice my friends, rejoice!

This will be the last entry in my Decade of Coldplay madness. Yes, I did seek professional help, don’t worry.

2008 saw the release of their last great opus, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, a little masterpiece produced by one Brian Eno. You may have heard of him.

Oddly, I’m not picking a song from the album per se, but rather from the companion EP, Prospekt’s March, also released in 2008.

The song, Life in Technicolor II is IMHO one of their best recordings ever.

Highlights:

The Seldom Seen Kid by Elbow......Grounds for Divorce, The Bones of You being standouts.

Third by Portishead....The Rip a highlight.

Midnight Boom by The Kills....Last Day of Magic being the one to hear here!

Dig Lazarus Dig by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds gave us More News From Nowhere - which almost won this years pick for me...

The best song from 2008 though for me comes from Glasvegas and their self titled debut album and the just glorious "Geraldine" It is one that should sit quite well around here as it has echoes of u2 about it.

Geraldine - Glasvegas

I'll go local too and will post a french song !

Alain Bashung - his last album before he died. Very cleverly written with hit maker Gaëtan Roussel.

"Je t'ai manqué"

A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

The brilliant Lykke Li arrived.

whilst Supergrass (am I the only person that loves them here?) left us with their final album  :'(

My favourite track of the year probably would come from Elbow but very difficult to pick which.
