I listen to lots of stuff, mainly from the 1970s, 1980s and to a lesser extent the 1990s.

The Stooges
Siouxsie And The Banshees
PJ Harvey
REM

In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

I don't do streaming services, so this is anecdotal. Lots of Zeppelin and Nightwish these last 2 weeks, but that new Midnight Oil single's got me starting down that musical path again.   🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I was on vacation the past 2 weeks and most of what I listened to was classic jazz and the famous vocalists from that era (from the 40’s & 50’s).

And a little bit of U2 when in the car, on the satellite station.   8)

Any particular recommendations?

Oh man, there’s so much to explore, it’s a world in itself.

I’m very much a fan of mid 40’s to end of the 60’s jazz. Davis, Coltrane, Brubeck, Baker, just to name a few.

Best to go with Miles first, though.

1) Kind of Blue (1959) Most important record of the 20th century.
2) Birth of the Cool (1957, but actually recorded 1949-50). Title says it all.
3) Sketches of Spain (1960) Beautiful work with frequent collaborator Gil Evans.
4) Milestones (1958) The other masterpiece by his first quintet.
5) Porgy and Bess (1959) Reworking of Gershwin’s opera.
6) In a Silent Way (1969) The start of fusion.

There’s so much more music in his catalog, but that list is a good place to start.
