Coldplay - New Album
« on: October 24, 2019, 04:12:33 AM »
Now I am no Coldplay fan - I liked some of their early stuff, but they lost me ages ago.

This caught my eye today and bloody hell - if these song titles are anything to go by they are going for full on cliched/platitudes!!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-50161901

Some titles here even Bono would reject as too much!
Since 1995.....

Yeah, not looking too good. For me Viva La Vida was their last great album.

Sunrise and Sunset?  Sounds like Coldplay are doing a cover of Fiddler on the Roof, hahaha... what no Jewish musical fans?

Well my wife will be happy that they're releasing a new album.  She loves them.

The day and night concept has been done before. Coldplay doesn't seem like the kind of band who could really pull that off but I'll reserve judgement until I hear it. Sometimes they surprise me...in good and bad ways.

so i still follow them even though it's been disappointment after disappointment since MX <i mean including MX>

BUT

the 2 songs they previewed sound like a band and not that electro pop shit they've been hawking since MX.

and Ghost Stories is very underrated.

oh mate theyve been using embarassing titles for YEARS!

Magic, Miracles (Someone Special), Fun, Amazing Day, All I Can Think About Is You, just to name a few.

and i listened to AHFOD <album> the other day, worse than i remembered. however i listened to Kaleidoscope and it was better than i remember. I really like Aliens

Magic is a good one. Sky Full of Stars is the one you'd know. I dont like that one.

Agreed that Ghost Stories in underrated. I still play it on occasion.

Midnight is excellent, as well as Magic. Sky Full of Stars doesn’t really fit with the rest though.

The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

"I want to know, when I can go, back and get drunk with my friends."

That's the chorus?! This song is awful.

Midnight is def a career high point for them.

we all know their lyrics are greeting-card level drivel. i'm sure this will be a chorus soon

"oh i love you baby i do/and you know its oh so trueeee!!"

martin is the weakest link in the band honestly. i can deal with his voice having....ahem...limited....range, but those lyrics. jesus dude. those are taylor swift level embarrassing.
