No not like Spider-Man.  A musical like Momma Mia where they use the music of U2 to tell a story what songs would you use, and what kind of story would you tell?

It probably wouldn't be that hard for someone who knows the medium to do. They could just bookend it with a few songs from SOI and SOE, filling in the rest with various songs from their career.

I'd tell the U2 story as a musical

I know this is a little out there but I don’t think the U2 story has wide appeal beyond hardcore fans. However, I think a story - love it or hate it - about Bono’s advocacy does. Fact is, Malaria, AIDS and TB deaths in African nations benefited by PEPFAR are declining rapidly and Bono is responsible for much of this. Any such movie would be controversial since much of the credit also goes to George Bush for signing the legislation and to the Clinton Foundation for providing vast amounts of funding - and I am not suggesting hiding pay-to-play accusations or U2s tax arrangements - in fact I’m thinking you revel in the controversy.

Some Days are better than Others - would be the humorous song.

I’d open a U2 story with MLK playing as the band drives through the streets of Sarajevo in ‘97, slow motion visuals of a city ravaged by war - and then Segway into MOFO as the band took the stage on that famous night - perhaps with a sound byte of the CNN or BBC news report on the event - with cutaways to NATO / UN troops and tanks thrown in - an opening scene to highlight the ridiculousness of fame and the juxtaposition between the kitschy throw-away POP and the  disposability of life in a war torn nation.

Another interesting idea would be to tell a story about a person who has a real moral dilemma - yelling the conscientious part through U2s more earnest efforts while telling the selfish side thought the less sincere stuff from the 90s
